They're clearly worried about something quite important. Obviously it isn't that Trump will institute fascism - that's just to agitate the rabble; they must have a plan which Trump would derail and this plan must be time-critical because otherwise they would just wait 4 years. So it's either war or some big thing in the works. Probably not a virus because Trump was largely on board with Covid.
It's clever PR: they present a change to Trump as threatening some political earthquake with the Dems offering business as usual, whereas what they want is to set off an earthquake but Trump is the blocker who would mean business as usual.
