A bunch of us have tried to push back against it and it doesn't make any difference, if anything it just encourages the trolling and arguing as the provocation's been rewarded with a reaction.

I don't think Benny is trolling tbf. If the board was higher traffic it might be worth arguing for more moderation I guess.

I didn't say it definitely would, I said I hoped it would, and it seems far more likely to happen now than if Harris won. I think concessions will have to be made sooner or later, and the longer it takes the more people die and suffer.
But who knows what will happen?

No. Why should concessions be made? Ukraine is a sovereign nation. It was invaded by its neighbour , and lots of spokespeople for Russia have expressed genocidal intent. They want to wipe out Ukrainian identity.

Any discussion should begin with asking Ukrainians what they want. That's what should lead the discussion. Ukrainians do not want to surrender territory to a psychopathic regime that's bombing civilians in their cities for no reasons other than hubris.

Giving up territory, you set a precedent for concessions you say, authoritarians can do wtf they want, no consequences (you can argue Gaza shows that happening already, fair point, different argument). Russia will simply rearm and come back for another go as soon as possible. Appeasment gets you nowhere.

Do you not get my point though? I know a bunch of trans people and the positions you've taken would hurt them. Or at the very least adds to the climate that's against them. Saying Trump will bring peace is to me a similar position - it puts a gloss on someone who's stated aim is hurt to Ukraine and Ukrainians.

i have no answers to Ukraine if Trump walks away, is Europe willing to take it on fully ie $60 billion? imagine Rachel Reeves being asked to find a tenth of such

i have no answers to rw attitudes to trans rights when it comes to the US, far more conservative nations within a nation at its core so how the fuck do you take on Red States and election ‘colleges’? cessation isn’t practical

most here know the end of a century or era clearly and, with the 21st century still young and Brics on the up, this century hasn’t fully realised itself yet. add yet more war and it can feel tectonic even with Syria in the rear view mirror and countless other bloodbaths

so many unknowns, so much slaughter currently even for humans and woe betide disengagement. have family along the east coast so Death to America! has always tickled. most can return to Ireland but the rest of you? fuckin ell, you’ve got a fight on your hands
