How many of the millions of people now diagnosed with dyslexia and adhd have had their brains scanned?
we've basically covered this ground before so I guess the question is if there is a happy medium between saying stuff isn't "real" and perhaps people being overdiagnosed?
i'm sure i would have been less entirely self-loathing growing up if i had been diagnosed with nvld at a much, much younger age instead of at the age of 30.
Having nvld for so long, and for being undiagnosed for so long, it only could help with the self-hatred so much because #1 it's too skin deep now and #2 - I could have had motor skills training and things like that instead of being told by society that i'm not a real man because i can't play sports
and here's the kicker! - my mom took me to a doctor a couple of times when i was a toddler because i wasn't talking when i was supposed to start talking, and i wasn't playing normally, and i wasn't "exploring" and things like that, and they just waved her off and told her not to worry
