So it's officially on. I don't imagine there will be many dissenting voices here on Starmer's chocolate-teapot status, but it'll be fun watching the Tories get annihilated all the same.

Sunak's been caught fielding questions from a couple of Tory councillors posing as members of the public. Great start to the campaign.

Michael Gove has joined the now record-breaking exodus of Conservative MPs quitting the Commons... It puts the total number of sitting Tories saying they will not stand again at 77, beating the previous record of 72 from 1997.

This 'exodus' is not a bad thing for the Tories. They have some smart young MPs, certainly smarter than Labour have, and will regroup faster than people think.

A bunch of the younger ones are the nutters like Gullis who were elected under Boris.

Sunak really chucking out the Boomer bait with this conscription policy.
Yeah, he knows there's no chance of winning back voters who are intending to vote Labour and is just trying to staunch the leak of right-wing voters to Reform.

they will regroup, yes. whether that will matter as reform occupies the ground the hard tories have vacated through infighting is another story. It might not be hyperbolic to state that Keir Starmer may be the last ever labour PM. We shall have to see how the lib dems do, albeit they have been very lazy as of late.

Sunak's offering pensioners a tax cut now. Remarkable how little the Tories offer to anyone but the elderly, even in the face of electoral defeat. They're a large demographic and tend to have the highest turnout, but they're on the way out and the age people start to vote Tory's getting higher and higher.
