This story's getting madder and madder.

Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found partially mummified at the couple's $3.3 million mansion, with pills strewn in their bathroom.
An arrest warrant obtained by DailyMail.com revealed Arakawa, 64, was found decomposed with bloating on her face and mummification in her hands and feet.
Sheriffs said Hackman was found to have the same signs of decomposition as his wife.
What about the dog?

Walter Murch, editor on The Conversation, on Hackman's influence on his process.

In a certain sense, we know this narrow spectrum of an actor better than anyone – perhaps in some cases better than the actors themselves. If we later meet them in person, this asymmetry really makes itself felt; they frequently have no idea who we are, other than appendages of the director, but we have all that secret and microscopic knowledge: how they prefer to turn left rather than right, their characteristic way of hesitating before opening a door, how often they blink …
During one session, another all-nighter, I finally noticed that very close to where I would decide to make a cut, Harry would blink. Was I controlling Harry, or was he controlling me? This confusion was ultimately resolved: the cut is a blink, and this realisation, triggered by Gene’s performance, became one of the foundational ideas of my book on film editing, In the Blink of an Eye, first published in 1992.

NEW: Gene Hackman likely passed away a week *after* his wife Betsy Arakawa but did not notify anyone, according to New Mexico's medical examiner. Officials believe Arakawa passed away from hantavirus, a disease linked to rodents. One week later, Hackman is believed to have passed away from heart disease. He also reportedly had Alzheimer’s. Hackman was found on the floor in the mudroom and his wife was found on the bathroom floor with pills scattered around the floor. Their dog was found in a crate not far from Arakawa.

So he passed away from heart disease, was that because his wife couldn't give him his medication?

I instinctively feel I love gene hackman but when I try to think about what films I've seen with him in it's not a long list

The best film he was in was the masterful "the firm (1979, Coppola)'

I think this is my favourite scene in cinema
