Yes, you can only pay out whatever is paid in and a PIP audit is semi-justifiable, yes the system is gamified yet rather than initiate a combo of benefit reforms and wealth tax hikes, Labour went straight after PIP and unlocked Tory tier policy levels
No other ‘initiatives’, no imagination, hopefully it’ll cue a full-scale revolt but also sceptical/wary of stick and carrot back n forth pr bs

Mad. It won’t even be forced labour, just less per claimant as the physical task guide questions will change affecting the applicant’s tally and scoring. There’s a basic and enhanced rate for physical and psychological conditions, except the overlaps are difficult to link even with supporting clinical evidence and Citizens Advice Bureau stepping in. Happens in work constantly, people think PIP isn’t for them, carer’s allowance even more so. The budget for unclaimed benefits is never discussed, where it gets reallocated etc
Aware Starmer is getting constant hate currently from multiple directions but this decision seems to have echoes of a Poll Tax moment for pr - shouldn’t RR have delivered it? No one is buying the “making it easier for the most challenged” bs. Should’ve seen it coming. Motobility scheme got targeted, followed by DWP stats farce, followed by starkly unimaginative budget choices. I know Dissensus is largely anti-cannabis but there’s 4-5£ billion in the first year from moving that into a legal framework. Vehicle access doesn’t get the press, say, guide and support dogs for the blind might but they get people to and from sites. Is the maintenance package infrastructure worth it with motor vehicles support at 3£k a year? Now that’s targeting the right range of questions
