i have a classmate who recently really got into illbient, as some kind of equivalent to the rave scene which was not happening in nyc, different social groups mixing up all to jam around times sq venues etc all to record 10 hour ambient jams with no people dancing

I remember PAN putting that Spectre - Ruff Kutz tape on vinyl like ten years ago.

Had this looping for a while. Love the dialogue coming in towards the end, doesn't even matter whether you can tell what's being said. All about the texture. Something I've always enjoyed. The sound of voices through radios and intercoms, megaphones, walkie-talkies. Anything which produces that scratchy, tinny sort of quality, makes a voice sound like scrunched paper and crisp snow.
