I have to admit to having a couple of bottles of buckfast 'tonic" before heading to the 1999 / 2000 NYE squat party at the PSV Hulme, a health and safety nightmare, the drummer from Scotland's number one punk band, EXTERNAL MENACE, forced Bucky on me and then I scored a disco biscuit and got collared by a Greek who asked, repeatedly, "DO YOU LIKE PSYTRANCE?!!!" and I had to sort of nod without saying "fuck off" and escaped to the pure AMEN BREAKS in the main room..

I know this isn't much of a techno forum, but Berlin has basically been the techno capital of the world for decades.

Berlin’s still technically the capital, but definitely no longer has the juice in techno. It doesn’t help that Germany is going to shit in general. Unmistakable “after the gold rush” vibes when I was there last year

If you’re gonna pick a place now it’s gotta be Amsterdam/Netherlands with ADE, awakenings, erste communie, verknipt, gashouder, rotterdam rave, dekmantel etc

What's up with it? The sense from over here (England) is usually that they're more competently governed than we are, although I suppose that's been a particularly low bar until very recently.
