Is Jason Statham the most prominent Brit in American eyes?

Is he who you picture when you read my posts?

Does he exemplify British elegance, poise, and island grit?

I tried watching a Statham film the other day cos I feel like I'm missing out on something important

It was called the mechanic, it would be worth a collective watch perhaps

Within the first five minutes he'd executed a cartel leader in their own swimming pool and got away clean

Then he returned to his home in new Orleans, by boat, dapping up a wise but whimsical black guy on the dock on the way

Then he fucked a stripper looking woman

It was all very look how unbelievably macho but cool and suave this guy is, basically a Bald Bond

I find something depressing about him, personally, his Britishness is the Britishness of having to visit B&Q on a Sunday and it's pissing it down

Been wondering about his accent, apparently he's from Derbyshire?!

Jason Statham was born in Shirebrook on 26 July 1967,[5][6] the son of dancer Eileen (née Yates) and street seller Barry Statham.[7] His father also worked odd jobs as a house painter, coal miner, and singer in the Canary Islands.[8] Statham moved to Great Yarmouth, where he initially chose not to follow his father's career working the local market stalls, instead practising martial arts. He grew up alongside football player Vinnie Jones, with whom he would later act; Jones introduced him to football, and Statham went on to play for the local grammar school, which he attended from 1978 to 1983. He was also passionate about diving, practising daily to perfect his techniques.[9] He was a member of Britain's National Swimming Squad for 12 years,[10][11] and competed for England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in the 10 metre, 3 metre, and 1 metre events.[12] He said in a 2003 interview that his time with the national squad was a "great experience" that taught him "discipline, focus, and certainly [kept him] out of trouble".[13]

So if he grew up with Vinnie Jones, does that mean Vinnie Jones is from Norfolk too?

Great Yarmouth, where David Copperfield trod the fishy streets

Jones and Statham are seen as cockney geezas but Jones is from Watford and Statham from Norfolk

Danny Dyer is from custom house in Newham so he's the real deal at least

He's from Derbyshire? No way, next you'll tell me Danny Dyer is from Somerset.

Good job he had Vinnie Jones to introduce him to football, I doubt he'd have discovered this fiercely secretive underground sport otherwise.

Ha snap.

Watford is sort of London though Vinnie Jones used to play football for Wales didn't he? I guess Jones is a pretty Welsh name.

Ray Winstone, born in Hackney, lived in Stratford, moved to Enfield

"I was still a baby the day Ronnie Kray came round to see Dad, but I've been told this story so many times I can see it unfolding in my mind. Everyone was on their best behaviour, but then Ronnie picked me up, and by all accounts I pissed all over him. He had a new mac on, which had probably cost a few bob, and I absolutely covered it. The room fell silent, then Ronnie cracked up, so everyone knew it was safe to join in."[3]

His daughter Jaime made a documentary and there was this bit where she interviewed someone in a run-down tower block and she said "this takes me back" and I was thinking "does it? Surely when you were born your Dad was a millionaire film star not living on an estate in Bow".
