Yeah I have not seen that film, really should. And totally get the point about gender dysphoria as major motivator. I guess I'm thinking of things in a libidinal sense, as in the "attractor" side of why you might wanna change.

I'm probably misunderstanding what you're saying, but I get the impression that transpeoples' gender dysphoria is experienced as something excruciatingly painful and that transition is seen as means of ameliorating this pain. The autogynephiles and poseurs I mention may feel that masculinity/femininity is some sort of magical otherness that they aspire to in the same way that a body modification enthusiast might seek to resemble an opal eyed, onyx skinned succubus, but from what I've heard, transpeople feel a cognitive dissonance similar to that of someone who has lost a limb when contemplating the alien bodies they inhabit.
