i like scott walker, this is a great cover.... but something about the elevated feel to this song with the sound and his mountain like voice hurts the regretful feels of the lyrics in comp to dylan's song

I was curious what you would think of that 'cause scott walker is a bit much.

this is the B side of one of the best singles EVER

the A side is one of the 3 tunes that will get played at my funeral, the tune that sums up my philosophy of life

but here is the B side that I never listen to, it's OK to give this one a negative review

The Specials - Maggie's Farm

6/10
i dont even dislike this.... much more interesting musically in how manic it is than the sounds coming out of the man's mouth

Jimi Hendrix - Drifter's Escape ( alternative version )

one trick pony?

hmmmm.... sounds a bit too improvisational to really sound like a real effort instead of just blaring noise.... hendrix doesnt feel quite engaged for this, sounds more like jamming around in the studio rather than just cutting a real track

sort of had to include this

Joan Baez - I shall Be Released live at Woodstock

I was horrified when I first heard this - I had been in love with the Keith Hudson version for years and then I heard this and all my illusions were shattered when I realised the REGGAE DENTIST had covered a Bob Dylan tune

edit:

the Keith Hudson do-over

spot on review from @kid charlemagne

Hendrix bought a studio just before he OD'd and while he wasn't nodding out doing drugs he spent the rest of his time complaining the drummer wasn't "feeling it"

I made the mistake of buying the Electric lady land studio sessions box set and it is just full of this sort of noodling around

the first 3 CDs and Jimi is just shutting down the jam with gripes about "no man, play the D sharp diminished seventh minor chord on the third beat man, fuck you!" ON EVERY tune, no wonder they laced his porridge with benzos, not saying the backing band killed him but you couldn't blame them if they did you know

I'm going to chuck this one in again

one of the great tunes of all time

but even better when it is in a reggae do-over

Freddie McGregor - I Shall Be Released ( Studio One Discomix )

8/10
i would buy a physical copy if i found one.... reggae has the most right of any genre to make a song 10 minutes....
last one for today im losing words

I forgot to write about how "Joan and Bob" is the celebrity sex tape that SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED

I'm not into "plucked chicken cold turkey shaved pubes" but I'm guessing that "Joan and Bob" might be too pale and hairy / "natural' for my taste

edit: once I had to explain to a colleague about "hairy nipple fetish" and I sort of feel the legendary BOB & JOAN fuck tape would show him the full horror

What's the CD? I want the extended Pink Room tune

yeah, I can help here

it's PRO-CD-5798

Warner Bros

11 copies on sale on discogs as I type

it's the only CD / album with the full PINK ROOM EXTENDED mix

essential
IMHO

the only reason I bought this CD is so I can play the PINK ROOM extended mix on repeat

true story

I'm sick like that

YouTube might fuck up and let this version through once in a while, but a hard copy guarantees entrance to the LODGE
