haven't been paying close attention to that scene, but been listening to some of the bubbling stuff on that's been coming out Nyege - good stuff
This is from the first De Schuurman album a few years ago (short video though):

it'd be cool to hear more like the Domina track referenced in the above video as I find it less fatiguing in my old age - probably the track I've listened to more off that album - "Elsewhere, 2019's 'Domina' shows how Schuurman's production style has developed as he mutates trap percussion, dubstep bass and eerie synth textures, while retaining the DNA of bubbling."

where do you think the label owner read about it first?

Did you read my initial post? I didn't say the first anyone in the UK heard of it, I said the first a lot of people in the UK heard of it. I'd wager more people in the UK heard of it once the compilation was released and the press started reviewing and promoting it rather than when it was discussed in a short thread on an obscure music forum the year before.

and I'm saying that that album came out because the planet mu guy has an account on here

I've just been direct messaged confirming that

stereolab.jpg

This is not actively bad - in fact it's quite attractive, and I like the use of stipple - but it just seems so predictably Stereolabby.

Which applies also to the sound of the album, from what I've picked up from other's reactions anyway (not listened myself as yet)

Someone on my Facebook had a 'random Stereolab song title generator' contest - seemed to be quite easy to come up with a cackhanded caricature, but to actually nail something that could have been a real Stereolab song title, that was quite rarely achieved

Difficult one innit - you don't really want Stereolab (or anyone great or good) to stop being Stereolab, or do something wildly unlike themselves. But then again, diminishing returns....

Bit like with the Rufige Cru record

Would people be disturbed to learn that there are Hauntology sample packs?

Well, I am not surprised - but also it hardly seems necessary, the constituents of the sound and the artwork (and the parameters for naming of bands and titling of tracks) are so well established that you'd think anyone with half-a-brain could come up with something that fills the bill

You're having a different discussion to me then.

maybe I should reframe this

I only know about "bubbling" because of that dissensus thread - I'm a long time lurker

I didn't even know planet mu put out an album until tonight

and I'm from the UK, so yeah, I first heard of "bubbling" because of that thread, and I'm projecting myself as being THE UK

same with juke

I first heard of it because of this forum

you'd be surprised how many people used to lurk on this forum to pick up "what is happening" including label owners

I once knew someone who got a job at boomkat because they could quote dissensus posts, lol

long time ago though, no longer relevant, lol

Right, but that's you. What I'm saying is I think more people will have heard of the stuff via the mags, record shops, radio, etc. when the compilation came out. This forum's tiny. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the thread were the seed of the compilation, but that's a different discussion.

I'm guessing that probably goes for most sample packs and genres in general, but I can't help but find the hauntology ones most amusing.
also, who are those people that need 500 HARD TECHNO KICK DRUMS!!!!
