luke is weird in that he hates house music but when confronted with it will always go for the cheesiest. which I guess is the point but it doesn't make for favouritism.

no idea. it sounds like the same kind of thing though. loading the drums up on Cubase or whatever and fiddling around with them until they sound unnatural. jerky

I believe what he would often do is sample a single note from a phrase, and then make a musical phrase using that single note by inputting it into midi while "repitching" it to different notes.
It's kind of like a different version of microsampling than the way someone like Todd Edwards does it.

Sort of underlined to me how these songs are folk songs in our culture

You'd assume only with the over 40s but streaming has extended their shelf life, I wouldn't be surprised if they were familiar to UK gen z too
