It's still confusing about is online "Real" or not

Internet is like motor vehicles - leads to aggression and alienation, disregard for pedestrians

it's a long time ago now since it was novel to meet up irl with people you knew first online, i never met someone who says oh you're on dissensus awesome

Weve all been online long enuf tho that the question is more, how much has being online affected your personality and changed your behaviour

Kraner used to talk about how onlibe fame sent mark fisher mad and he bought the k medallion and tried to start a cult. Even on those very small scales it can go to your head

so if people suppress bits from their online identity then they will become like that irl too 😲

I don't feel it really has, tbh. I basically forget about anything to do with the internet when I'm socialising in person, unless someone starts talking about it. They're still two distinct worlds to me.

The main example of the internet influencing people irl I've personally encountered is the one I talked about a while back when I said my cousin diagnoses herself and others with mental health issues based on things she's seen on TikTok. That was quite odd. A moment of 'Oh, it's not just a meme. There really are people like that".

I Was thinking more about how you perfprm yourselfbonline and then that perfprmance influences the way you perform yourself offline

I'm more reasonable and patient online. I try to translate it into real life, but it's harder to keep your composure when someone's being a dickhead directly in front of you. I think my humour's different offline too.

I'm polite by default, but it's probably easy to tell from my facial expressions and body language if I'm angry.

I think I am nicer IRL because you see the vulnerable human reacting, the very fact of your physical presence requires certain forms of attention and acknowledgment , manners basically … you can forget all that here
