Have you been to Nomad? I was there the first day it opened. Empty. I went there cuz I could always get a table and no one would bother me, could sit there all day without competition. The owners didn't have a clue. Nice friendly Irish looking types. Wifi issues. Bad pastries. Coffee bar was a mess. Now look at them. Humming along. Filled to brim. Beautiful.

Have you been to Joe's Restaurant? Lovely people. Family business. Brother and sister run the joint they're good people. Helped me with seltzer to dab a stain. The peppers and the oil and the butter with the table bread. When I left they'd taken to playing electronica for ambience. A shame.

I remember I'd always miss the transfer latenite. End up at Broadway Junction instead of Forest or Fresh Pond.

I saw Alex Tatarsky sing opera at Windjammer, when Leo Hardman Hill ran musical programming. I was there.

I was there at Julia's when they served their first tapas. Place to take a lady.

I ordered the first Chinese takeout box from Wan's.

I was there when Variety reno'd the triangle and Williamsburg'd the block. I was there.

I'm very thrifty, most days I don't spend any money at all, I only go out to dinner once or twice a month
