do you like any pure electronic music?
As a genre, not really. As an expansion like Zappa did on multiple records, George Harrison-wonder wall yeah!
I am not trying to front. It’s all subjective.
I come from a family of self taught musicians. Who had no other agenda then to entertain at family gatherings. Idk why, maybe because as the youngest of six my older sibling tied my shoes for me one to many times.
I do know I appreciate the dedication put into learning (and mastering) a musical instrument.

it's just algorithms. al-farabi understood this. electronic music isn't any easier or harder, just different parameters. Punk rock is piss easy to play on real instruments, you can learn to play a punk song in 20 mins max.

As someone who was in a punk/HC band I respectfully disagree. You can write the song in 20 minutes, but getting the other four blokes to keep time actually play it in a way that will get you booked is a far longer (and dare I say, honest) endeavor. Putting together a solid .30 minutes of good shit was not easy.

My point was that a lot of punk rock is compositionally simple. power cords. nothing wrong with that but then the same kinds of people will call disco contentless. I don't get it. I also don't see how machines are any more or less honest.

getting booked is an uphill battle, whichever genre you work in.

Yeah, I guess it’s an agree to disagree type thing. And, I don’t mean that in a condescending way way., I simply don’t place the same value on the end product. I’m old.

To me that’s beauty

I love that the forums only remaining communists are locking horns

meanwhile the only poster who has died from butane gas and psilocybin overdoses and been resurrected rmany times recommends these SUN RA TUNES:

SUN RA - DISCPLINE 27

****

I'm trying to find the DISCIPLINE version in a tiny bar

not quite finding it but it was on the JOYFUL NOISE dvd

SUN RA - OUTERSPACE INCORPORATED

SUN RA - NUCLEAR WAR

I know Luka, its not conducive to rave/jungle designer drug EuroDance which to me looks like nerve agent deployed on an abandoned wharehouse full of tweakers. But, I will find something in his canon you might twitch to
White (though the color is not important) white flakes spazzing out to that kind of “music”
Is every bit as repugnant to me as my tunes to yours

Edit: have no idea what Detroit 92 means. I’m my day this was just called disco.
Zero content, zero musicianship.
Just do a rail and do what has become synonymous with white people dance.

a lot of ignorance, my man
anyway, how do you rate james brown?

I love that Sun-Ra made it into this thread.
He belongs alongside Varese, Stravinsky.

Varese and Stravinksy only "belong" when they are sucking Sun Ra's toes

I once made the mistake of wandering into the ARKESTRA's dressing room - if looks could kill!

Marshall Allan is cool though, he nodded to me as I sucked on a cig, we had a moment, etc

Thst in in itself is beyond ignorant. They are peers, if at different times/junciotd.
I like you but you are wrong

I guess @william_kent deleted their post while I was out for a cigarette.
But to answer your question, not as high as JB - he (or should I say Clyde Stubblefield) where my biggest drumming influence, after all.

oh, I think I was making a point about BARRY WHITE being the OG GANGSTA?

lol, there was never a point when I'd walk in on Stravinsky or Varese, but when I walked I on MARSHALL ALLEN PRESENTS THE SUN RA ARKESTRA it was a bit awkward

I backed right out of their dressing room and went for a cig where I traded nods with THE PRESENTER, Marshall cool guy,

some time later the youngsters from the arkestra bothered me for some photo: ;'yo, can I take a photo next to you', I'm not really sure what happened there

edit" I'm not really explaining that night right

after being hurried out of a dressing room that I thought was a bar and then smoking in tandem with Marshall I took a seat and some random guys asked me "YO! CAN YOU POSE NEXT TO ME!?" and I was "SURE" even though I have no idea who you are and the two dudes took photos next to me and said "THANKS" and then the next time I saw them they were on stage playing drums and bass while Marshall Allen lead the rest of the ARKESTRA~ through the SunRa songbook

etc
