Lol that was my first thought as well tbh.

Never get the urge to listen to them anymore, and there's a lot of overplayed tunes, but I basically like most of the early hits, Today is a pretty good album, Pets Sounds obviously. A lot of people rate Surfs up and the Smile material, but nah. Don't really rate anything after good vibrations.

I can totally understand why a lot of people hate them, but not me.

That’s their (his) biggest criticism. They never had the chance to progress further musically. But, he held it together longer than say, Syd Barrett, but not as long as others. He was the sole genius of the band. Floyd at least had Roger Waters.

That's the thing about hardcore, it's never flowerpower, even at its most luvd up. This is what Joe Muggs didn't get, and you want to go under the same roof as him?

Is that true? I feel like they change quite a bit stylistically even after Pet Sounds. And their late albums lay the template for a lot of pop to come.

Me n my college mates were obsessed with how prophetic All I Wanna Do Sounds, wrt that haunted hazy 00s indie sound.

But even, Wild Honey sounds nothing like Smile or Pet Sounds, suddenly this barbershop influenced surf group is doing blue eyed soul.
