I Was assuming it came from the rigidly policed communications of the modern office
definitely an influence. therapy as well obviously in the US and the associated spiraling out of therapy-speak, half-understood therapy concepts becoming part of the mundane speech register. technologies of communication that people are finding useful and repurposing

In general I think there is something interesting about the third-person perspective taking

And potential its relationship to the therapeutic use of dissociatives

But also the therapeutic viewing of the self from outside, as a system of triggers and reactions, which the observing self cannot control, can only observe

"When you say this, it sets off my fear of abandonment, which makes me lash out at you. How can we break this pattern?"

the other thing that's feeding through now is that half of people have been to university. loads of them have as ash sarkar would say been trained in using language. attention to language. a belief in description

The same thing's happened with "theory".

We fall onto the mattress all, "We made it" "Barely" "What a day what a life" "Imagine another" "Believe it or not..." and "Hello darkness my old friend."

We give each other prompts, topics to talk about later, so if we're texting one of us will say "Prompt: Marina" and so that I can remind her at dinner to tell me all about her crazy coworker

We say "I am not worried at all darling" and "Hm that does remind me of someone who could it be" and "Heads cocked in broad daylight at this thing"
