I’ve been curious about cosmopolis since I’ve never thought much of the film…. Seen it maybe once or twice

I liked the film, but prefer the book. Cronenberg didn't change much, it just works better as a novel. The dialogue's difficult to pull off on screen and the look was a bit bland and TVish.

@vershy versh i sat down and read the silence today.... pretty embaressing read.... amounts to too much of a forward retread of ideas better expressed in falling man, underworld, and white noise....Ordinary civilians faced with catastrophe, mustache commodity consumption, I’ve already read about this from you Don......

i did laugh when he just repeats the word "cryptocurrencies" 4 times over in the bottom half of the page, then ends that chapter with the line "Somewhere within all those syllables, something secret, covert, intimate."

The Names, Point Omega, Players, Mao II, Americana and Running Dog are decent.

By the way, The Counterfeiters by Gide was excellent, I don't know why I've never read him before. Somehow a hole in my knowledge... who can school me on Gide?

End Zone has all the precocious-students-talking-about-nuclear-war-and-generally-behaving-oddly-on-campus stuff from IJ. I think he got a lot of the tennis academy from that one.
