Nah, i just can't be doing with him, I'm prejudiced.

It's got a lot of energy, i'll give it that. But i refuse to like it.

Moloch!
Moloch who entered my soul early! Moloch in whom I am a consciousness without a body! Moloch who frightened me out of my natural ecstasy! Moloch whom I abandon! Wake up in Moloch! Light streaming out of the sky!

You must own this anthology though surely? I think it was either you or woops who recommended it me, and what got me really interested in poetry.

It's full of really stupid but fun and energetic stuff like that but it's great, i always enjoy digging it out every now and then. I have to draw the line at ginsberg and kerouac though

Whitman's vitality is healthy whereas i associate ginsburg and the beats with drugg addled degenerates.

Burroughs doesn't count because he was very gentlemanly and well turned out.

I like parts of Kaddish too, where he's' wondering if he should sleep with his schizophrenic middleaged mom and he just starts chanting yiddish. Crazy guy. You've got to love it

One time I thought she was trying to make me come lay her—flirting to herself at sink—lay back on huge bed that filled most of the room, dress up round her hips, big slash of hair, scars of operations, pancreas, belly wounds, abortions, appendix, stitching of incisions pulling down in the fat like hideous thick zippers—ragged long lips between her legs—What, even, smell of asshole? I was cold—later revolted a little, not much—seemed perhaps a good idea to try—know the Monster of the Beginning Womb—Perhaps—that way. Would she care? She needs a lover.

"[Personism] was founded by me after lunch with LeRoi Jones on August 27, 1959... It's a very exciting movement which will undoubtedly have lots of adherents. It puts the poem squarely between the poet and the person, Lucky Pierre style, and the poem is correspondingly gratified."

"As for measure and other technical apparatus, that's just common sense: if you're going to buy a pair of pants you want them to be tight enough so everyone will want to go to bed with you. There's nothing meta physical about it. "

The beats take history and use it for paracosmic play, this personal worldbuilding where eating trout is a sacrificial banquet and a few words thanks are an Indian prayer, they are standing under ancient paleozoic sky amidst jurassic ferns and billionyearold boulders and Indian trails, Billie is the reincarnation of St Carolyn and she's walking along the shore all sad Ophelialike
