Dayum!

Well, Jim Jones moved 108,000+ units independently to premier at #6 with Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product Of My Environment)...this album is BOOOOOOORRRRRRRIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGG!!!! On the other side, today is when Game's Doctor's Advocate drops (I fully expect it do more 150,000+ the opening week easy), Akon's Konvicted (I have NO idea) and Fat Joe's new album (I don't see this one doing better than 60,000). I have heard the advance of Jay-Z's Kingdom Come and it is one hell of an album...I even liked the Neptunes song featuring Usher, the Beyonce featured "Hollywood" and of course, the diss track that needs it's own dance RIGHT NOW "Dig A Hole" where the entire DipSet get it in the chest with a verbal shotgun. This album probably won't be fully appreciated by younger listeners since it's geared more to older, sophisticated cats (and kittens). He can't be the same "Reasonable Doubt" and "In My Lifetime Vol. 1" Jay and that might dissapoint some listeners...but if they are, hey...whatever. Just need those new Nas & Clipse LP's to drop in December and give the (mainstream...underground's ALWAYS on) rap industry some momentum. One.

This thread seems lacks the mention of two pretty hot albums, the Killer Mike - I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind double disk and the recently released Lil Wayne and Birdman lp

And when has Hell Hath No Fury been pushed back to now?

Raekwon on the most ridiculously laid back hallucinogenic beat

Its nice, but sounds pretty dated man. Pete Rock's jazzy, smooth, rigidly straight beats sound bygone era now, there's not even a nod to modern hip hop. Dilla, Madlib, Flying Lotus, Oh No.. bare producers have shown that you can take the classic jazz/soul sample-based hip hop format and make brand new ideas out of it, 21st century shit. Pete rock sounds like he hasnt even tried to consider a fresh approach. Its boring man.

There more i hear the, i feel like Ghostface is the only Wu member who is still owning his space, still shining, brightly. I loved fishscales.

The reason why....

The Killer Mike 2CD is pretty much a mixtape that leaked over the internet 3 months ago through www.smokingsessions.net and not that many East Coast cats went out and copped it (though I like Killer Mike, I reserve my iPod space for Joe Budden, Clipse, Saigon or Papoose mixtapes). I wouldn't ever buy a Birdman & Lil' Wayne CD (although Wayne have improved to the point where I can play his songs out loud without fear of ridicule or repraisal from fellow underground fans/backpackers). I really like his SOLO songs on that CD.

Hell Hath No Fury is due out this December 12th....next week Nas' Hip Hop Is Dead drops!

Here are the second week numbers for Lady Sovereign's Public Warning:

2 DEF 48 124 LADY SOVEREIGN PUBLIC WARNING 9109 -50% 18296 27447
wow, this shit really did flop hard. Guess people just copped the ringtone

Dig A Hole! G'head! Bury Yourself! LOL. One.

as well as clipse and nas, the new ugk album is out on the 19th of december.
i cannot, cannot wait for this.
v disappointed in the z-ro album, but a brand new ugk record might just challenge trae as my top hip-hop album of the year.
damn, dart, why would anyone ridicule you for playing lil wayne, anyway?
i think you might need new friends.
anyone hear heard hell hath no fury yet?

party record with a siren
anyone hear heard hell hath no fury yet?

I've heard maybe 6 or 7 tracks now. All the beats are stripped-down and dark. It's business as usual really.

Pharell does some really off-key singing on New World.

Of the tracks I've heard Ride Around Shinin' is my favourite.

There's an official Green Lantern hosted album sampler up for download somewhere. I'll see if I can find it again.

Underground hip hop fans (I am one) universally hated Lil' Wayne until about 2005. We mostly listen to shit like MF Doom, Madlib, Wu Tang, Boot Camp Click, Hieroglyphics sounding hip hop for the most part...not people whose videos ACTUALLY get played on the TV (unless they were recording previous to 1996, of course). It's hard to explain what a backpacker is without writing a novel (at least it is for me). Wayne had to make some GREAT material just so underground heads could admit to liking him to each other...that's how it is, same thing with T.I.

Oh, the Hell Hath No Fury album only has 12 tracks...it has leaked a bad audio quality version...less than a hour ago. The retail will have leaked by Friday night or Saturday. I give Nas' LP until the 21st to hit net by that info.

One.

For some reason I didn't realize the Killer Mike was a mixtape, I thought he just loved the guests.

Listening to the low quality Clipse leak as we speak...

Yep.

Killer Mike is currently in label limbo after his very public fallout with his Purple Ribbon labelmates. The Clipse have been moved UP to a November 28th release instead of Decmber 12th...the leak makes even more sense now..."Keys Open Doors" and "Ride Around Shining"? DAYUM! One.

Jeez. Actually I have a pretty good idea what a backpacker attitude towards mainstream hip-hop is, since it correlates pretty neatly with many indie rock fans' attitudes towards pop.

How many dull arguments have I had persuading people that, yes, I do like Britney more than the Killers or a thousand other dull groups, just as I like Lil Wayne more than most underground hip hop I've ever heard? I don't need someone reciting 'knowledge' at me - I need someone with a good flow, and Wayne has always had that (listen to his verse on 'Shine' if ever any evidence was required). It's music, not literature, and different rules apply.
