comparing the responses of herrn reynolds and kpunk wrt the klaxons' artisanal nu rave/pub rock
(sr) how UK bands should be--mouthy but confused, fired up by having read a lot of stuff they've not properly digested.................plenty of that sort of garbled autodidact stuff
(k) a bi-polar oscillation: the 'weak messianic' hope that there must be something new on the way lapses into the morose conviction that nothing new can ever happen........focus shifts from the Next Big Thing to the last big thing - how long ago did it happen and just how big was it?
(displaced to the previous post, not notionally about klaxons but you know, with a little lability)
then a variation on those cemeteries of wasted effort, calvaries of crucified dreams, registers of false starts!
which is all good......i can see how endearing that jejune autodidactism can be, all of that naively thrown together esotericke nonsense (even if they've probably all got shit humanities/social science degrees and they're all older the me, not some 17yr olds in [shit provincial town] in 1972 with nary a pot to piss in but, aha, a library card)
the incoherence can still be excused cos they're probably all on like drugs and shit, or someone else has done it for them (says they were formed late 2005 so maybe someone has written their entire script, who knows)
they really do sound shit though, almost enough to get nostalgic for the test icicles
