I have a general question about this 'malaise' notion, which I've read repeatedly on dissensus of late. My question is this: could someone please specify a time when there was *not* a general sense of mainstream cultural malaise in their lifetimes, either in the UK or the US or wherever you are located? What exactly does a moment of non-malaise look like? Late 80s/early 90s acid house and rave culture in the UK, I am guessing someone will answer? But others? I mean, what exactly do you have in mind, swears (or anyone else)?the current malaise in music is tied to a wider malase in culture and politics in general. Everything seems to have slipped down to a lower level. And music is the perfect example of how defeated western youth are, there's not going to be another punk or acid house, just more of this crap.
