it sure is, viktor. and there's no need to use it to justify your personal sexual preferences.

everyone is partly homo. it's only a matter of degrees. some are less, some are more. and everyone certainly has the potential of becoming gay. even me, who has never gone that way, but I recognize that it is absolutely possible -- maybe if I was less inhibited, indoctrinated, fearful, and easily swayed by peers/the majority view, maybe if I met the right boy. even Logan. admited or not. even Sizzla.

there is no black and white, only shades of gray.

I think this is absolute twaddle. Exactly when did this "everyone's queer" idea become orthodox? I can no more imagine going to be bed with a bloke than I can imagine waking up tomorrow and finding myself a born-again Christian for no reason at all. Furthermore, the majority of gay men I know have no sexual interest whatsoever in women.

If I can go out on a limb here, I would say (in my experience) that more men than women are exclusively gay, but women are much more likely than men to be bisexual. Or perhaps that's just an artefact of the general perception that it's much less of a 'big deal' for a woman to have had gay experiences, to the point where it's positively cool for a girl to be a bit 'bi-curious' (cf. 'porno chic', etc.).

Yes, there's a whole spectrum of human sexual behaviour, and as we've seen in countless other species none of it is 'unnatural' as such (OK, furries excepted... :) ), but most people are nonetheless straight, and it's ridiculous to pretend otherwise.

(I know absolutely nothing about Lady Sovereign by the way, sorry about that everyone!)

menta's beats are so sick. i wish they were keeping her garage in the states but it seems to be about adapting her to a hip hop mold.

i love those riko bars from down the phoneline.

Pfft, the video's quite nice, and I like the "stop pretending to be American" sentiment, but a) it's not my kind of music, b) overuse/misuse of the word 'random' is a pet hate of mine and c) I can't help thinking "yeah, but is she bovvered"? :)

Fair play to her though if she's trying to crack the US market, she's certainly a step up from Fiddy!

*damns with faint praise*

mine too, in part because it seems to be opening up some generational divide between me and the youts. and what's wrong with "cool." "cool" is a commitment, albeit a cool, detached one. but "random" just expresses awareness that the thing observed could just as well be something else.

You can't use it to mean what it originally meant any more - as a result I've taken to saying 'stochastic' or 'non-deterministic' instead.

By the way, there's a lot of paranoid nutters around here, aren't there? In another thread some dude who's smoked one too many blunts while watching X-Files is acting all superior to me because I don't believe TEH GUBBERMINT IS LYING TO US ABOUT TEH ALIENZ0RZ!!!1111

Even Freud thought men were less likely to be bisexual than females. He didn't quite get past seeing homosexuality as pathological (what was the gay trifecta? narcissism, paranoia, and...?), as hard as he tried. Kept waffling back and forth, finally admitting he had no fucking clue about female sexuality.

This study obviously leaves the important questions unanswered, namely "are these differences biological in origin, socially constructed, some of both, or neither?" but your observations seem consistent with this study's findings, Mr. Tea:

RE: alien lifeforms conspiracy theorists. i don't care if there are aliens who live on planets where money grows on trees and everyone sits on the beach all day drinking caiprihinas and laughing at humans and our backward ways. until they come down here and show us a surefire way to squelch the AIDS pandemic and stop the war before the chaotic climatological changes preceeding the coming ice age wipe out brooklyn in a hurricane-induced flood and the resulting rat stew seeps into the ground water and unleashes a new plague that only ends when a meteorite the size of the sun collides with earth, then i don't give a fuck about them and we should spend our money on more urgent, tangible matters.

Finally some people started to talk about the song! Yeah, I'm from the U.S. and it's awesome to finally hear something different...just hope the label doesn't change her type of music like you said...that would completely suck. Compared to the UK grime...I can't stand U.S. hip-hop to much!

...so did anyone see the Jelly Donut vs. Lady Sovereign video on youtube?...classic!

...still curious about those "Random (Menta Mix)" lyrics!?

Indeed. And how cool is that.

Furthermore: two quite different words, not to be confused. (How could you even)

'Cool' is general affirmation of goodness, nuanced according to intention and context. You know: arch of the eyebrow, tone of voice, topic under purview 'n all that.

'Random' as it is used here is quite something else: straight out of the chora/absolute. Its play, mobility, aporia, arising and falling away. Lady Sov gets it.

And so do you, if you stop holding 'random' to smallness and give it a nudge into something bigger, more fundamental, more generative.

I just find it annoying partly because annoying people tend to use it. Specifically, teenagers/twenty-somethings who describe things as either "blatant" or "dodgy" on the rare occasions something isn't "random".

"Random" humour is also fucking annoying, as in Shooting Stars and Green Wing. Gah.
