I appreciate anyone who congregates in an enclosed space and chooses to listen to our music.

And polz, if all I were doing were sitting in my house voicing my feelings of discontent through the internet "Worst.Band.Ever!" then fair enough.

But I am not, and neither are many other organised, driven, polite people who are happy to go out of their way to promote the music.

Hanging the opportunity to people based on what is pretty much their image is fucking bullshit.

that was a sick post stelfox, wise words

does anyone know anything about how public funds are made available for initiatives to provide musical resources or platforms for poorer communities? its something i know next to nothing about

Essentially you just apply for them, but it helps having things in place first and talking to the ( arts council, say ) about your project and how they may be able to fund it. There are plenty rules n regulations to have to follow.

A good example is Tim Brown at Raw Material

http://www.raw-material.org/

who I'm sure would be happy to answer any questions if you ring him / get a meeting with him.
