It is you who made this distinction in the first place - between people who use their intelligence (like "us"?) and people who buy their music at Tesco and are influenced by advertising.
All I am saying is that, like everybody else, my choices are a product of a whole swathe of things including advertising, availability, how much cash I have on me, completely irrational things like whether or not the word "Ruby" appears in the title, whether or not it's been recommended by someone, and my "intelligence" or lack thereof.
she's a great example of symbiotic marketing kind of like ashlee simpson was before her
and no, i haven't read any other part of this thread until mistersloane's
isn't "us and them" thinking pretty powerless when it comes to the reach of capitalism's influence and all of that? (this is what i think john eden is saying)
And which "controlling propagandist media" appeals to "people like myself"? I've already stated that I don't read The Wire (recently featuring Wiley, Throbbing Gristle, Skulldisco - maybe I should start reading it)- unless you're talking about Dissensus, Woebot, K-punk, Blackdown's blog, etc?
Is it just me or has the Wire been going downhill recently?
Quite the reverse, I think the Wiley and TG issues have been a massive turning point (and not just cos I did one review for them!)
getting derek on board, stelfox doing critical beats etc suggests a return to the 1996-1998 period, which got me buying it in the first place.

I always wondered what "critical beats" meant. It's like IDMish stuff, right?
