Producer Talk

Bring out the vacuum
I did a track last year that starts at 500 bpm and ends at 10, but constantly introducing double-speed elements so it simultaneously slows down and speeds up. It's not a new idea, but was fun to try.

Couldn't get the streamer to work, so try this link if you're interested:

Sorry if I talked about this before, I can't remember...

Bring out the vacuum
After foolishly spending hours sifting through stuff tagged "wonky" on bandcamp last night I'd like to suggest a moratorium on sidechain compressor ducking. So many tracks with basically pads limited to fuck and then ducking under clompy slow beats. Meh.

routes

we can delay.ay.ay...
yep. it's not just 'wonky' tho it's the same for all this airless ardhouse and post-vibe drugstep stuff. audible compression is like the nasty plateverb of the 80s or some shit.

here's some tracks I been (or had been) working on, just got myself a soundcloud so thought I'd stick a few up, would love to know what anyone thinks of them!

Interesting stuff. Really falls into a nice groove as it goes along.

When it first started I thought it was Mystery Murdered by Medicine 8:

I've been trying to listen to as much of the music posted on this thread over the last three years as possible. Im really impressed with the high level of production and ingenuity of the music that I've manage through.

Its amazing how much talent lies in the undergrowth of inactive web pages where music can be accessed. I think there is way to much attention on how popular music is or your own music is and it is in actual fact degraded by incompetent measures such as views/plays and all that bullshit.

I joined dissensus on the advice of Adam Harper of http://rougesfoam.blogspot.com/ ( if you haven't already checked out his blogs on Musicking and Hauntology its a must) in search of community and some respite from modern isolation. I also want to move from being a spectator to active participant in something positive. Like music discussion.

The reason Im posting this tracks is to try and learn as much as possible from by the looks of it quite a wise bunch.
After many days of deliberating thought I'd finally put some tracks up of my own. I did naively think I could give feedback to every post but I quickly realized how little I know about music production and dance music especially.

The music is what Ross Geller might have sounded like had he lived in Camberwell and not Central Perks cafe.

Really feeling Hunger - where the hell did you get the vocal sample? Sounds like a field recording.

Yeah its a field recording. I was trying to record these removal men pulling apart a metal container (can be heard in the background) and then as chance would have it a gent walking his dog decided to share his convictions on current society.

Needs some work that track but I kind of can't take it any further for the moment.

Just listening to some of the tracks you posted! Fires a nice tune! You've got a tight drum sound. transcendental music!

1st attempt at a footwork track.. i think the beat is a bit too busy for footwurking... dunno.

Hey this a lovely reworking (couldn't find the the original mind). I really like the vocal warping and harmonies. The strings are a nice emotive touch. Don't quite know what a footwork track is supposed to sound like but this sounds pretty good!

I got interviewed (at length!) about technical stuff to do with how I use a bit of software called Audiomulch, on the Audiomulch website. Dunno how generally useful it is (I mean, if you're not using Mulch), but I do say more than that I got real stoned. :D

i like this. heard a few footwork juke style tracks now with that haunted vocal burial type sound, really feeling it a lot. heard a pariah track in that vein the other day which is awesome (although its more like the addison groove/ramadanman stuff than the dj nate ) either way, i'd like to hear more stuff like these.

:D

two new ones from me. been listening to a LOT of early grime the last few days, trying to get some legitimate 130bpm grime going.
