yeah, there's a great view from up there. you can see tyne bridge, millenium bridge etc. i can't believe some of their fans choose to sit up there just to sing at us (well i can believe it!) - how many steps to go up as well!! jesus christ. on the way out some forest fan started chanting "it's just a big fucking car park", which raised a smile. it was freezing as well. i'm going to bristol city on saturday, will be a little bit different i reckon...

Man U lucky to only lose 2-1. Norwich remain the only English side to beat Bayern Munich in Munich :D

I remember that - as I've said before I prefer playing to watching but that Norwich run in Europe was one of the times I've got most excited about football. Seem to remember some Dutch side also succumbing before Inter (with a bit of luck) finally put the boot in.

Vitesse Arnhem, beat them 3-0 and Carrow Rd and murdered them, um, 0-0 in Holland.

Toto Schillaci came on as a sub for Inter in the home leg. He was totally washed up by then. What a career, tho - top scorer in the world cup, in your own country, too, and nothing before or after.

Edit: Check this out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvatore_Schillaci he had one good season, leading up to Italia 90. He only played in Serie A for 5 years.

Is it wrong to be glad when a player gets injured? Because I'm fairly chuffed that Rooney is (probably) out of the Chelsea game at the weekend, makes up for us missing an entire back four and Essien

He's not knacked for life, he's just out for a week or ten. I'd be delighted if it weren't for the small matter of the World Cup. Without Rooney, England might as well stay home.

What a mental game! The only thing between Arsenal and a massacre in the first half was Alumina, of all people. Second half, predictably, he misses one he should have spotted. Then a second. Then Theo comes on and turns the tide with a near-immediate goal. Then Puyol takes down Fabregas in the box for a red which Fabregas converts while seeming to destroy his knee. Yet he carries on against 10-man Barca because he knows he's suspended for the next one, as are both Barca central defenders. 2-2 going to the Nou Camp.

something was wrong about that game - the defending was borderline catastrophic, for a start. messi didn't seem interested, and that Arsenal should have drawn 2-2 was utterly ludicrous, when they were leaving barcelona with three men in the clear in their own penalty area in the first 20 minutes.

i have a sneaky feeling it's Jose's year. I think Barcelona will find Inter very tough to break down (should both go through, naturally), much more so than in the group games, and the pressure of winning the CL twice in a row has caught up on a lot of teams.

Did anyone see Lyon-Bordeaux highlights - again, defending so cavalier it was astounding.

Lol at Tyldesley going on about Ibra has shown people in England that he's actually good, like he's been losing sleep over it

I woudln't usually agree with Tyldesley (that would be sheer madness), but I'd say Ibrahimovic, as with any other player, would be worried about not getting respect from the biggest league in the world (TM). He might still want to play for an English club, after all. I'm sure he was keen to move to Barca from Inter partly because Serie A isn't what it once was - I'm pretty sure every major player worries about their legacy and proving themselves on every stage.

that game was enthralling, what a rollercoaster. when barca scored the silence that greeted it was deafening. theo walcott was electric, but the people saying he should starter are daft. alexandre song was brilliant. the ref was a joke... hmmm, what else

Song was great, agreed - looked like the only Arsenal player up for it for most of the first half (other than Almunia, obv). Can't believe Ibra didn't open the scoring in first half (was def nervous, I think - as with Berbatov, he proabbly cares a lot, but hides it behind insouciance), and Xavi(?) missed a sitter too. It's almost unbelievable it finished level. Wasn't a penalty tho, was it? (obv karma is building up for Barca in that area from last season)
