Ah okay. I've mostly only seen him in highlights things where they normally just cut to getting excited about the fact that he's managed to hit an open goal from six yards...

"Berbatov is starting to settle in now, he has a languid brilliance that is brilliant to watch, and he's also turning into a useful predator for us, which we've not had since Ruud.
Now for Ronaldo to start finding some form, with players like Carrick to come back, I'm starting to feel very optimistic about our season. It's good to see younger players like Jonny Evans and Rafael coming through also (with Fabio, Possebon and Welbeck also waiting in the wings). It's an exciting time to be a Utd fan, we've never had such depth."
Yeah, Berbatov's movement, control and vision are all looking very good suddenly. Evans looked pretty good last night as well although it wasn't the sternest test. Hope Tevez doesn't fall by the wayside though, such a great player who really makes things happen and puts his heart into every game.

"Rooney was on-side, though."
Of course, I'm just saying that in a match when two of your three goals shouldn't have stood it seems churlish to feel hard done by about one that should.

Watched the United game instead - the difference in class between United and Celtic is enormous. Bigger than I realised.

A mate who's a Rangers fan gets deeply funereal whenever you discuss the EPL-SPL balance of power at the moment. Celtic and Rangers can't afford to match even the smallest Prem teams for money because of the gulf in TV cash. Since last season blew up in their face, he wears the air of someone who's just lost his love, because he's sure a European final will never come again.

they'll flounder around christmas wont they?

That's my guess too - they don't have the depth or the dosh (until the boys from Dubai actually make the sodding deal), and it must be exhausting coming from behind to win by one goal half the time.

But they've found the knack of stifling their betters - they deserved the win today, as they did against Utd last month.

Is there anything to conclude from the fact that Torres was missing for both the Man U and Chelsea victories? Did Liverpool win despite of his absence or because of it? Genuine question. With him injured they went back to 4-5-1, with Alsonso and Mascherano protecting the back 4. Maybe they wouldn't have been so compact if Torres had ben up alongside Keane? Or maybe Keane wouldn't have played.

Interesting point. torres doesn't offer much except goals, goals, goals and a bunch of  defenders. Certainly he doesn't chase down and muck in like Keane. Not having him there presents the problem of how to score - 2 of the 3 scored in those 2 games were flukes.

Anyway, Hucks - thoughts on your new manager?

I think it's Jenks who is the resident Spurs fan, so I'll defer to him. But I know a few Southampton fans who aren't too keen on Redknapp.

Incidentally, Redknapp cost £5m, and compensation to Ramos and co will be the best part of £10m. £15m in total, compared to the extra 1 and a bit they screwed out of Man U by delaying the Berbatov deal for so long they couldn't get a replacement. Well done, Mr Levy!

Oops. apologies to both.

I think Levy finally reinforced what we all probably knew - he hasn't a clue. So, he decides to sack everyone.

Instead, if he had just got rid of Comolli last year, we would still have Jol and probably be more likely of being a regular contender for fifth/sixth.

Whilst there is always a whisp of controv near Redknapp i do think it is probably a good move - he's good at shoring up defences - look at Portsmouth clean sheets last year - and he can get in the faces of the bigger clubs. He's got to find a way of getting Bentley delivering crosses again - earlier this year he was absolutely woeful, Modric looked good on Sunday but Pav is worryingly immobile.

I think many at the Lane would be delighted if Defoe made a return - be a very interesting match against Arsenal on Weds.

As for those Man Utd fans worried about Berbs - I saw a lot of him whilst he was at Spurs and frankly I haven't seen anyone that good in Spurs shirt since the days of Gazza. Quite simply he is a joy to watch, creates an unreal amount of time on the ball and makes quite outrageous passes - I really think Rooney will love playing with him - dunno about Ronaldo though!

Aye, in the highlights. Might be time to re-pick him for my fantasy football.

Ronaldo looks like he wouldn't enjoy simultaneous sex with all the prossies in Sao Paolo at the moment. Face like a slapped arse, and playing like one. Enjoy (while it lasts).

fucking spurs

my housemates went to the game. only thing that stopped them trashing things/committing hari-kari, was that most of the spu*s fans had left the ground by the time they pulled it back - over half of them. hahaha.

meanwhile i was in a pub in angel (ANGEL) which was pretty much 50-50 spurs-arsenal. what's that about??? eff off back to the other side of holloway road please.

it's okay, i'm sure they'll be selling dvds of it by the weekend  that's probably how they're financing the new stadium. "Re-Live the Historic Draw at the Emirates!"
