cracker of a goal! Gyan's, obviously.

Barry is shit. the commentator kept saying how impressive he was and that he hadn't lost the ball once ... well of course he never loses it cos he always passes it BACKWARDS to the guy standing next to him. he's such a training-ground perspiration-over-inspiration dullard.

why are so many people jizzing their pants over ashley young?! he's slightly better than average and that's it. he was pretty shit against ghana i thought, overhitting and shanking passes constantly, hitting the fucking bar from two yards out...? He's apparently one of our "players for the future" but he's like 25 already and he's just not good enough. aside from the odd good game i've never been impressed with him at villa. can't believe man utd are allegedly buying him in the summer. but then i suppose they bought dwight yorke from villa and i never thought he was that good until he started banging them in at utd.

god england are fucking dull.

I wish I'd watched this match yesterday, some awesome goals, especially the first and last ones. Plus the Schalke one where he turned in the rebound from his own shot showed a dogged determination that deserved a goal.

Did anyone see Barcelona - Shakhtar? Donetsk were very unlucky - more like a 4-2 match from what I saw. And if it had been, then I reckon they'd have had a chance in the return. Sadly tie seems to be done and dusted. As with Spurs-Real, and Schalke-Inter of course. I have a sneaking suspicion Schalke could do a Leverkusen on United.

' "Everyone has an opinion today," the United manager said. "There is an issue in the modern world of a need to be noticed. There is a wee guy, sitting down there in the Midlands, probably never been recognised in his life, managed to elevate himself to whatever it is in the police force. Have you ever seen Wolverhampton on a Saturday night? Do police ever arrest anyone for swearing on a Saturday night? Dearie me. That is a good one." '

Go Fergie! Put the twat in his place. Really, this culture is fucked up. Rooney didn't even call the ref a cunt - ridiculous fuss.

"There is a divide in this league but it's greater than David and Goliath. I feel like a gladiator going into the arena armed with a tooth-pick"

Holloway still good for a quote. Apparently he spent 30 minutes arguing with the referee after Saturday's game, about one penlty appeal. Gotta love it.

the chelsea situation is mad. it's plain to see that drogba and torres is an either/or situation. they can't play together, it's one or the other. they don't seem to like each other, or at least you get the feeling that drogba is like 'who the fuck are you to take my place?' and torres is too much of a pussy to stand up for himself and get himself out of the rut he's in. drogba will blatantly leave in the summer - he's getting on a bit, fancies going back to marseilles, represents 'the old guard' that needs replacing etc - plus he's no longer top dog there and clearly isn't happy about that. trouble is, he's way better than torres, but it's like they're duty-bound to play torres just because they spent so much money on him, even though he's completely shit now. so next year they'll have minus one drogba and one shit torres. what a mess. i'd feel sorry for them if i didn't hate chelsea so much. i guess they just have to hope they can get neymar and pray that he doesn't turn shit too.

I think it's a bit harsh to say that Torres is shit. He's playing shit at the moment but he may bounce back, I mean people were saying that about Rooney earlier in the season. I do think it's stupid for a club like Chelsea to go for the massive kind of kudos transfer without considering whether he is really what they need or if he is gonna fit properly into the side but surely, even in their worst nightmares they never imagined he'd go ten (is it?) games without scoring at all.

Chelsea look a shadow of the team that bossed Barcelona two years back, or indeed the side of last season. Their midfield seems to have gone to shit, rather than the strikers (Drogba's goal was a beauty, and he made an amazing turn for another shot - I thought he did well)

yeah sorry bit facetious of me to say Torres is shit, class is permanent etc. But he does seem totally jaded and nowhere near as quick or fleetfooted as he was before he was injured.

and yeah they were almost unstoppable last season. what went wrong? they've got pretty much the same team. it all went downhill immediately after ray wilkins got sacked didn't it, but i refuse to believe that's the cause.
