Maybe it's just that they are all another year older. I mean, every player will have his last good season and if a load of players at the same club have it on the same year then that's bad news for the club.

but it hasn't been like a gradual deterioration, as you'd expect from players getting older. It was an instant turning-shit. Even at the start of this season they were flying and thrashing everyone they came up against, then all of a sudden... it was like a switch. They lost one game (can't remember who it was against now) and it was like the bottom fell out of the team. and even their prime-age players like essien have been dreadful. plus you have someone like giggs, who is 37 or something and still playing incredibly. though he is an exception to the rule i suppose.

and yeah poor gomez. what a plum. I thought it was lovely the way Casillas looked really sorry for him, rather than celebrating.

Yeah, that's true I guess, I can remember people saying that they had the league in the bag because they were ahead, looked invincible and as if they might get stronger - though it was obviously a big call in October or whenever it was said. Maybe getting too old can be like a switch though, or at least it reaches a crucial point where it becomes noticeable - I'm saying that perhaps they just can't maintain that level for a whole season now whereas they could a year ago. Take Lampard for example, he was famous for playing every game but this season he's had loads of injuries. Either way, I don't think buying a trophy striker was anything like the right solution.
Fair play to Casillas yeah.

Fergie looking remarkably resigned in the post-match interview. No gripes or anything. I guess the treble is always gonna be a stretch unless the team is extraordinary.

Even he'd be pushed to complain about that. After the Berbatov misses they were always second best. Yaya was actually as massive as his physical frame for once, and Kompany was impeccable. Even Balotelli was trying, though if Tevez had been there it could've been a canter.

Fair nuff - only saw til 45 mins, and then the interviews after. He was just kinda subdued. they were all over City for 30 mins, so the result def surprised me.

"Attention: David Blaines 40 day record of doing nothing inside a box has been broken by Fernando Torres"

Predictable but still funny.
