This bloke was a keen cyclist and a big Lance Armstrong fan who insisted he was innocent. I had another friend who was an equally keen cyclist and wasn't enoughI of a fanboy to be blinded to Armstrong's obvious guilt.
I greatly enjoyed being a proxy in the argument between the two of them - for month's on end L would make some ludicrous defence which I would report to Steve who would then forensically demolish it for me, and I would repeat it word for word to an increasingly irate L who would instantly switch to another equally shakey defence. It was one of my main daily enjoyments for quite some time, right up to when Armstrong was nailed and admitted everything, at which point L completely changed the subject and never referred to it ever again. I assume he put his fist through the screen and snapped the keyboard into pieces but I can't be certain.
