'Grime in disguise' indeed

"I enjoy elements of the Grime (I used to play it!!) but sometimes I hear a tune labelled as 'Funky' and it is clearly 'Grime'."
http://ukfunky.free-forums.org/can-grime-call-house-a-home-vt1131.html

Yesterday I listened to Jason H who plays minimal, and there were one UK tune too. A brokenbeat/soca-y (alot acoustic drum samples), techy minimal style. Production value sounded very low compared to other highly produced mnml.

It would be nice to funky have it's "own minimal" too. Would be nice alternative to over produced soullesness :)

Btw, where's Blackdown & Dusk's and Grievous Angels funky productions?!

Someone want to help me find the Kenny Dope/Terry Hunter "Mass Destruction" vinyl somewhere in London?

You'll see why if you look for it.

Keep It Funky!!
Hey nomos, big up on the riddim.ca revitalization and on this DUTTY Marcus Nasty set.
All this funky madness/wearing my rolex has actually got me planning a revival of my old grime night in Toronto as well.

That Marcus set though - how does everyone find links to these sets? Not living in the same timeframe it is hard to hear the radio sets as they happen, and since the Rinse blog is a permanent mess, and there isn't really a funkyforum, I'm not sure where you get em from.

Advice? I need to be hearing this shit fresh at least three times a week, and my fix is much short of that as it stands.

Try listening to Deja Vu - www.vulive.co.uk on weekends. They tend to have a few DJs playing funky on Friday and Saturday evening-night as well as the UK Funky.Com chart on Sundays 2-4 with DJ Rogue - www.myspace.com/djrogueuk ;)

i really hope hardhouse banton gets to release that 'turn it around' tune. spoke to him on myspace about it, apparently he's having trouble clearing the sample... such a beautiful tune though, my fingers are crossed...
