@ Audio, Marine Parade, Brighton

£7 All Night

Undoubtedly one of the most revered artists in the British urban music scene, Durrty Goodz, is set to perform a rare live p.a. at Dirty Canvas. Goodz's recently released Axiom EP (including the epic 'Switching Songs') has wet the appetite for a full long player next year and his apparence is one of the most highty anticipated we have ever hosted. With a fanbase that includes both grime and hip hop expect a high energy show for an artist which is set for big things in 2008.

Filthy Dukes host Kill Em All, a night they started nearly 4 years ago, born out of their love for bands like The Rapture and Roxy Music and labels like Out Put & DFA. "Its about music played in the right way, with passion and full of ideas". This passion for independent music plus the popularity of Kill Em All earned the Filthy Dukes success in their own right and they now have a residency at Fabric as well as co-promting Adventures in the Beetroot Field.

Goodz and the Dukes will be joined on the night by Dirty Canvas favourites Jammer and MC Badness. 'The Murkleman' need no introducion - having created the biggest grime hit of last year and recently appearing in Dizzee Rascal's 'Flex' video. Due to his high energy live performances MC Badness' popularlity has been rising dramaticaly as he sets his sights on bringing 'the lava' to Brighton.

One of my best mates is living in brighton, so seeing as I a) wasn't in london last weekend so missed Jammer/Trim/Chip etc and b) have a place to stay, I'm definitely reaching this one.

Just got back into London, haven't slept a wink...

This was maybe the best Dirty Canvas I've been to; even if my lot were the only people on the dance floor for at least the first hour, the place only ever really got three quarters full all night, it closed at half two instead of four and Jammer only spat for about five minutes. All these apparent problems, and yet Badness and Goodz were so good that it didn't matter. The reaction to Switching Songs was bigger than I think I've seen anything get at one of these nights before.

I thought the DJing all night was ace too, especially Magic, and whoever the guy that was on before him (in the polo shirt). And the guy on last actually, even if he only got about twenty minutes.

[edit: Who was that dude with the bell though?]
