I have recently rediscovered one of the great lost voices - Paul Quinn.

When Will I Be Inside You Again by Paul Quinn and the Independent is an absolute joy - overblown, grand and dramatic and full of the most wonderful moments.

He did a version of Pale Blue Eyes with Edwyn Collins in the late eighties and was in Bourgie Bourgie.

I know this forum is usually fit to bursting with great contemporary music but really, you should have a listen to this if you get the chance!

Not really the kind of stuff that most people on here are into but yesterday I finally got my hands on a Greek garage seven inch that I've been after for years and never thought I would own. The track is called Drive My Mustang by Persons - it's kind of melodic but rough garage, not really a dancer but sounding kinda soulful and dirty like Abba by The Paragons or something, it's only in "good" condition but I don't necessarily mind that on old records, a bit (as long as it's not too much) of crackle or hiss kind of adds some of warmth sometimes I think.

Christ, are you that old?! Oh, you mean the 80s...;) Even the dance troupes doing the rounds in London back then weren't as good as the originals featured in those clips...a reliable technique to spruce up mediocre dance music (only my humble opinion, of course). The extensive theft of Bohannon's classic almost rescues it.

i find it too hard deciding what to listen to these days - i prefer just whacking on choice fm (which >>>>>> 1xtra). or lbc. or radio 3.

Some guy listed it on gemm two weeks ago and my saved search picked it up. I don't know how rare it actually is or what it usually goes for because weirdly I can't find much info on it apart from on that link - I'm pretty sure it hasn't been listed on ebay in the last three or four years but maybe there are loads of them in Greece I dunno.

not that i disapprove but a bit anti-social of you to sit in the pub with ear phones on no? i should try it sometime though could be kinda nice :)

Yeah it was haha it was only for about 10 minutes though and it did me the world of good, it was like a shot in the arm/brain.

The Black Hollies... I know they're retro, they basically copy Barrett-era Floyd and late 60's psychedelic garage bands (The Seeds for example), but I just enjoy this music. Or I'll put it this way: I think they do justice to the genre, they pull it off.

microphone champ v1 from edens page, im slowly getting drawn into the grime meme. loving the flows and tangents they take. if i imagine the same flows coming out of say a saxaphone its sounds like some crazy mad jazz. not sure if i explained that very well.
