"First of all we find the Persons from Piraeus (essentially a suburb of the city of Athens and the biggest Greek port - the Translator). This band -- an early incarnation of the legendary Socrates Drank The Conium -- put out 3 singles overall and consisted of the following members: John Spathas, Antonis Tourkogiorgis, Ilias Asvestopoulos, Ilias Boukouvalas, and Antonis Pitsolantis. It is not accidental that songs from their first single open both sides of this record; in our personal opinion this is the best (Greek) single of the sixties: a pair of genuine garage "diamonds"!
PERSONS: "DRIVE MY MUSTANG"
Most fans of the genre consider this the ultimate Greek garage song. It's a legendary song and one of the most wanted and hardest to find singles. It was written by the Persons from Piraeus, a band that later was known by the name Socrates Drank The Conium."
got me think about the jazz dance scene back in the day
Some guy listed it on gemm two weeks ago and my saved search picked it up. I don't know how rare it actually is or what it usually goes for because weirdly I can't find much info on it apart from on that link - I'm pretty sure it hasn't been listed on ebay in the last three or four years but maybe there are loads of them in Greece I dunno."Did you dig it up somewhere or was it an eBay purchase?"
Yesterday I was mostly enjoying Southern Comfort and coke and listening to Todd Edwards in the pub on my mp3 player.
That Microphone champ is great:
.. that's why his live show is a shambles, don't wear shorts if you've got dry ankles, don't take pics if you got dry lips, I thought you knew that, it's like putting custard on chips, I been watching Ninjaman youtube clips..."
