You do get those situations from time to time as a music "journalist".

I didn't generally speaking cos I was writing about american rap music and none of them read The Wire or FACT or Crack.

And anyway they're too far away to both beating me up.

I generally like to think that I was never nasty about anyone who wasn't already successful enough not to care.

Although I do remember saying that Vast Aire sounded like a malfunctioning robot or something.

Just listening to an ASC thing from earlier this year and apparently he's got a jungle album on the way "inspired by the recent resurgence of old-school jungle and drum & bass sounds, with a particular interest in (and influence from) artists like Photek and Source Direct, and the classic records on Metalheadz and Reinforced."

Are a decent number of people making jungle again now? Saw someone on 555-5555 complaining about the rise of "bubblegum jungle" the other day.

He's absolutely nailed the SD/Photek thing tbh. That second tune, Fatal Error...

Yeah, that seems inevitable with any revival. The same thing happened with grime. The people with the most personality were still the original guys.

Yeah, I know both labels. I just assumed other people were making jungle now since they've been doing stuff for ages and nobody called it a revival.

it's everywhere as far as i can tell. woops played some last night. thirdform plays a lot in his sets. dunno whether it's old or new, i just love jungle, it's the only thing that made last night's darkside party bearable, i think luke played a jngle track and i could relax and knew where i was.

i think new oldschool jungle has been made more or less quite a long time, before the current resurgence.

will give you a boring answer which probably doesn't help much (lol), but there's few non-generic jungle tunes here and there - you just gotta find them.
