Summer's here and the time is right, for dancing in the streets...and what better way to do it than with two pioneers of techno and ambient making their return to Vancouver.

Celebrating Jonah Sharp's return to Vancouver and Move D's debut in city, get deep and prepare for the incoming forwardsoundwave....

Reagenz are David Moufang (Move D) and Jonah Sharpe (Spactime Cotiniuum). They recorded their first album, entitled 'Reagenz' in both San Francisco and David's native Heidelberg, Germany in 1994 after meeting before an early Autechre show in San Francisco.
In May 2008 they met up again, having not seen each other for 13 years, in Tokyo (coincidentaly at an Autechre show!) and managed to spend productive days in a studio owned by a Japanese analog synth collector. They did another session in Heidelberg and David also visited Jonah in early 2009, slowly finalizing the new recordings. The new album will be dropping Jonah Reflective label this year and in support of that, the boys will be joining us in Vancouver and at Soundwave to get aquatic..

Both Jonah and David will be playing exclusive DJ sets.

Hataken is an improvisational musician, composer, and DJ. As an electronic artist he has worked with musicians across a broad range of styles (ambient jazz, psychedelic, techno, trance, chill out) and has been a force in the Tokyo underground scene for over a decade. Hataken is straight off the heels of a show at South by Southwest, where he performed with Tokyo-based saxophonist Fujiwara Daisuke and their project Quartzhead.

Ken will be playing live.

Kevin Burtt aka Me-Sheen was born in Maine, USA.
He first emerged on the electronic music scene in 1995, where he released his first EP, "ELECTRONIC MEMBRAIN", on the well respected REFLECTIVE RECORDS out of San Francisco. With the construction of funky, dubby grooves and spacey, melodic atmospheres,he continues down this path where currently, he is soaking up the futuristic ambience of Tokyo, Japan. Me-Sheen's next album release, SLIPSTREAM , is marked for release in June 2009 of this year.

The Art Of Beatz Soundsystem (AOB/The Konspiracy Group)

Five years in terms of electronic dance music is a long time. Club nights last barely six months. DJs buy and sell their decks in less time. Whole genres are born, praised and die in a two year span. We've spent a half-decade bringing everyone from bedroom DJs to international superstars to the airwaves of Cop Radio CFRO Vancouver. Three veteran DJ/producers that have played with everyone from Deadbeat and DJ Rap to Miguel Graca and Martyn.

The AOB Soundsystem will be DJing.

looks nice. i will do my bestest to be there. wrangling a (quasi-hipster) posse is like herding cats in this goddam town, but a guy can dream.

any concrete long-arc plans for the night to speak of at this stage?

Man, I wish, but seeing as we are literally all playing Soundwave the following night, we are only going till 2. We'd love to go later but we are on the 6 am ferry to Nanaimo.

Thanks Kuma ...

When I read about this show , i was immediately taken back to Ashikaga 2000
when we attended a show there with Mesheen and a whole crew of music makers including one cat from The Shaman I believe.
My friend Shin was at the Studio ( inside Ozone , we believe ) May '08 where Move D and Jonas hacked out those collab tunes mentioned.

All the best on the show people !
