I didn't invade the thread - I had read it all and thought your latest contributions unecessarily hostile, verging on the hysteric. I suggested you stop and listen to yourself for a moment - you didn't instead you told me to fuck off.

Don't bother to unpick this contribution line by line in some bizarre manner which somehow demonstrates that you are right. I, for one, am tired of this whole sorry affair - well done you must be very proud of yourself.

Except for the fact that I don't think anyone has ever agreed with me on any substantive point that could realistically be described as "right-wing", I'm sure that I have indeed encouraged the degeneration of the forum. Reading the boards (and cackling), I'm often struck by the parallels to The Sun newspaper. It's all going to plan.

Meanwhile, I'm still uncertain as to exactly where the "unhinged name-calling" took place. Perhaps you could quote me directly? Or perhaps you would rather dodge the question and respond with more self-righteous invective?

anyhow, waffle if you are reading, i have enjoyed your posts, ones i've encountered at least, as sometimes they present good challenges. like our wee debate on the historical context of capitalism in the "class, race, and wienerschnitzel" thread, but even there you should realize that you were trying to label my position as "a-historical" and "denying the contingency of", and even "apologist", etc., while it was not the case. i did not get upset, but tried to articulate what i mean by historical precedence as well as i could, and in the end i thought we reached some kind of understanding - but it was never acknowledged on your part.

what i'm saying is that while you clearly have a lot to offer, and i would be the first to welcome you back, but you have to see that you are sometimes hostile and sometimes seem to WANT to paint people as your enemies and try to put them in cookie-cutters. (and this from someone - me - who has gotten into it with Vim and Cracker and Buick many times in the past over politics, and not always in a polite manner.)

i would even agree with you that there is a small group of right wing _insert offensive name_ here, but to lump people like Jenks or a couple of the others in with them makes no sense. (and trying to make me, the resident anarchist nutjob/supporter of terrorism, into an "apologist for capitalism" can be nothing other than absurd)

and as someone who knows (really, trust me, i do), and cares: i recognize some anger issues in you just from your posts. i know because i am the same way (trying not to be), as was my father -- people with a good working rational mind can completely blind themselves to the more fundamental dynamic of their actions, and source of their grievances, much more efficiently than the others sometimes. don't know how not to sound condescending but in the sincerest possible way: it would be good for you to check it out.

Was he banned? Was that really necessary? I understand that he was obnoxious - but I think it's sad that he has to be ostracized.

Weeeell, maybe. I don't want to see him banned either, he's a vibrant poster, and he's not even offensive. Ostrasized? That's a little strong - it's hardly as if he doesn't invite a certain level of ridicule.

i realise i don't know the processes John and the mods have for these things, just saying, like.

John has said it was necessary to ban him and that is more than fair enough.

Unless we move onto the assumption, like Zhao, that Padraig is mentally ill, and therefore we all treat him with...care. Or ban him for the good of his own psychological equilibrium. I suppose as the resident "right wing _insert offensive name_ here" I should keep my nose out. I don't wish to sound mean.
