this is the deepest thing i have ever seen, props to the guy on dubstepforum who organised it

i'm still pretty entranced by this..

thanks for the guido tip off. i basically hate the end but that line up sounds dangerously essential... sort of you'd-be-stupid-not-to territory.

is anyone seriously considering fwd nye as well? it has been mooted round my way.. spyro, marcus, gee, kode9, slimzee.. seems weird, the idea of being in fwd on nye, but then nye house parties do have a habit of being a bit rubbish sometimes.

Would love to go to that but I'm in Berlin for Substance sadly (although I'm sure Kode, Martyn, Ramadanman will make up for it)

As an aside, I love the way Appleblim's so last year already.

Yeah those sets in the lounge look crazy - good enough to basically not leave the room all night. I mean it's basically a chronological exploration of the the last 8 years of darkside garage music mixed by the best there is, could easily never ever see that again! The thought of EZ, Yunx doing 05 (so many classics), Hatcha doing 03 (how good is that going to be!!) Skream doing 06 (so many of his wicked beats are from then) is well exciting. Plus Zinc doing breakbeat garage probably. Plus Trim. The End isn't too bad for a bigger club I don't think...

I went to FWD NYE two years ago, it was great, Mala and Kode9 smashed it. Not this year though.

Most of the Bristol crew are playing live from a house party at Wedge's tonight on SubFM, 8pm-12am:

Pinch, RSD, Appleblim, Headhunter, Jakes, Peverelist, Wedge, Komonazmuk, Whiteboi, Gatekeeper, Atki2, Forsaken, Superisk, Gemmy, Thinking & yours truly.

Should be messy ;)

For a dubstep night we have quite an undubstep line up this Sunday in Amsterdam: Hudson Mohawke, Zomby, Lukid, Gemmy, Orthodox, Nika and Plus. Night is called Sonic Warfare. Used to be more DMZ like, but it has evolved into something more Hyperdub and Warp. Interested to see where dubstep is heading, that is, the dubstep people call dubstep. To be honest, I have not read the whole thread, but I noticed some disappointment. How is the current mood worldwide?

Listening to these new Kryptic Minds + Leon Switch tunes on Loefah's label, it seems to me that there's a similarity in aesthetic with tunes by people like SP and Fracture (of Fracture and Neptune). Similar use of film dialogue, warped sub etc... Basically like techy DNB with a half-step beat. It's funny cos I loved dark half-step beats when Loefah, Skream etc. were making them but these tunes don't really do it for me quite so much (maybe just because I've heard it all before?). Not bad tunes either, would like to hear them on a big rig as I may get to since KM+LS are apparently playing DMZ on the 3rd. I'm sure they're very well engineered, which presumably is part of the appeal of them to Loefah (who I remember talking about his obsession with engineering to Blackdown in an interview a while ago), along with the obvious dark half-step connection.

I dunno though, there's just nothing as shocking and awe inspiring about them as in a tune like 'Mud'. But then that's a tough act to follow for ANY producer, including Loefah.

so does anyone know anything about kutz? other than hearing his collaboration with benga and his recent inclusion on skream's mix cd i don't know much about him
i managed to buy two white label plates, released by soul jazz, which are awesome. they seem to have sold out in a blink and incidentally all the press and vinyl images have disappeared / removed from soul jazz's site. strange. anyhow i really rate this guys production and am gagging for more. the rifts he chooses and plays are worthy of minimal repetition.
