Quite surprised Tuff Jam only got my vote :'-(

As much as I like Tuff Jam, when it comes to earlier 4x4 garage I prefer the more ruffed up junglist end of things like 187 Lockdown, Jeremy Sylvester, Nice n ripe records, Confetti records, KMA's 'Cape Fear' etc. Not that Tuff Jam weren't ruff, but they seemed to be more in thrall in to US house.

Joyous 2step, Hobson's choice is the king but this is top.

If you had to pick a Gurley tune?

Id be stuck between the Spread love remix or the Spirit Of The Sun.
That one on absolute corruption one though Robbie Craig does my head in on it.

I spoiled my vote as I couldn't choose one of those

But, Steve Gurley, Dem2, Karl Brown (tuff jam are good but karl on his own is lethal), M dubs (just for the over u drum break)

didnt see Anthill Mob?

whoops just saw Anthill/confetti, you could buy one of those without listening

As usual Grant Nelson/Bump & Flex remains criminally underrecognised :'(

Agreed that the Telefunkin' remix is THE ONE for Groove Chronicles. Ghost tunes are a bit of a drop-off in comparison to the early GC stuff.

Of this list it's probably Dem 2 for sheer volume of greatness and impact and weirdness but I feel like throwing a vote New Horizons' way because they have the finest singular aesthetic ever and "Find The Path" is all time top ten anything for me.

My favourite Gurley tune, possibly because it was the first one I heard by him and I was blown away by it. Loved the original too but Gurley topped it.

I had to pick Dem 2 as well, but it was even harder than the jungle poll. Does Gurley hitting the top in both make him overall King of the London Underground?

I cannot believe that fucking Wookie is picking up votes over Bump n Flex!

Too much Todd in a row I find too much, agreed, but so many tunes of his can be put on individually or come in in a mix and put a huge smile on my face.

True, when he's good he's really really good, but it's such a formula.

For Todd my favs are prob Sound of One - As I Am remix or TLC - No Scrubs dub

Joyous (or possibly yearning) vocal 2 step

Antonio & Lee - Touching You (2 Step Mix)
Demon Rockers - Ladies Anthem
BMX - Make It Hot
NS & David Jay - Tell Me Why
Desert Eagle Discs - Bigger Better Deal
Nu-Birth - Can't Stop
Jason Kaye - What U'Re Doing To Me
Bad Bwoy Beatz - Everybody Say (Vocal Mix)

all these are on the mix I posted here (cue shameless self promotion)
http://www.dissensus.com/showthread.php?11569-(mix)-BARE-BONES-2-Steps-Fwd

some more

4BZ - Something New
Angel Lee - What's Your Name (MJ Cole Master Mix)
Antonio & Lee ft Caspian - Take It Slow
Blaque - I'm Good (Da Phutures Bumpy Vocal)
Blaque Ivory - I Do (Phuturistix Remix)
Chris Mack - What Would You Do (Vocal Mix)
Colours ft. Eska - What U Do
Dajae - Time (Zed Bias Vocal)
Dark Flower - Love Will Bring Us Back Together (B-15 Vocal)
De Souza - Keep It Coming

see how you get on with those, I can give you plenty more but my eyes are tired so i'm going to bed

one thing about wookie is that a fair number of his remixes just sound like they tacked the vocal on to an existing track. could say that about lots of guys but i think it lets him down a bit. not as much variation either.

yeah fair enough. i'm a sucker though for those organs/basses and the rhythmic sadism.

best gurley is the jodeci remix i think. spirit of the sun i find bland.

Garage Nation 98 and the main room in Bagleys is completely full. EZ is on deck, it goes deadly silent and then.

SHINE ON SHINE ON SHINE ON

for the next few months its the only words I could say to people who worked in record shops in London
