That's banging! And congrats on the DJ Q play, that's a big deal!
these are fun, feelin' em. i see the energy/creativity of the scene but still get the "how is this different from bassline/ bassy 4x4 garage?" question in my head. dont suppose the ravers care tho, so hey ho.
I think that energy is like 90% of what it's all about, it's like, most of the best producers are very prolific, so just on the sheer /amount/ of great music coming out jackin's very exciting.
I think probably the biggest difference between jackin and bassline is simply the speed, dancing to tracks at 128-130 all night just feels very different to dancing to tracks at 145 (which is what I've often heard bassline pitched up to). There are some jackin tracks which are pretty much just bassline slowed down:
But yeah, it's banging so...
But then a track like this has quite a different rhythm to it:
It kind of bounces and bubbles in a way you wouldn't really associate with bassline.
I'd say more or less that jackin is to speed garage what uk funky is to 2-step.
In some ways it basically IS the same thing just processed through ~10 years of new technologies and sonic tricks. The changing same.
sounds crazy! link it here when you find it?
Found it! I think...
Yeah, in retrospect I think my description was a bit off actually :S
The tune that comes in around the 40 minute mark:
I Still Love You 2013 VIP - Hannah Wants and Lorenzo.
Sounds a lot less large listening at home on my headphones.
But it absolutely exploded the dancefloor, swear down!
