analytics data is not really that valuable until its turned into dark ad patterns, and imho that business model is more than 50% fantasy.

the main thing that has happened is that fb & google have transformed the ad industry so that everything goes through them, they have so much cash sloshing around that it's not yet clear whether that is a sustainable modell, but well informed doubters in the industry are begginning to surface
What like they've hit some kind of growth ceiling?

The growth thing is the biggest issue I have with capitalism, more specifically neoliberalism. I agree that it does fuel consumer quality of life for middle/upper-middle class society and above, but man would I prefer there to be more businesses that take an equilibrium approach to growth, IE just set a target market cap and grow until there, at which point they simply have to sustain quotas and deliver reasonable returns to investors (who wouldn't be expecting drastic ROI).

This equilibrium approach would seemingly be suitable, even at present, for "public benefit corporations" and maybe other types of entity, EG cooperatives. Probably analogous entity types in UK and other jurisdictions.

no they did a massive greedy disruption of the industry and the chickens have not come home to roost yet (the chickens will be a huge reducion in advertisers' budgets when it becomes clear that legally targetted ads are not that lucrative)

the banana question is:
  • is there a way to provide bananas to the north without capitalist bondage?

More importantly, is there a way to provide bananas efficiently at scale without relying on precarious clonal systems

why do you need a contemporary phone, old ones are cheap and fine for that spec?
There won't be an issue making/receiving calls?
I had to give up my old phone (I tend to hold onto them for as long as possible) because the 5G rollout made it impossible to make/receive calls or texts (I was fine with that part).

i wrote 20,000 words on the banana export industry for a dissertation

haven't read the article but yes of course you could have bananas, ie international trade, in a socialist country. you could have banana production in a socialist country too.
