I'd say if a kind of 'healthy living' allows a little slack away from the viral disease to step back and understand it's operation then that has real value.
I was also suggesting above that further to being 'neutralised', drug consumers may actually fulfill a number of 'productive' functions as far as certain interests are concerned.
Being "not-ill" with any physical disease certainly doesn't allow any "slack", it doesn't matter what your vital stats are, you're infected with capitalism. You can tell yourself you're not, but that doesn't change anything, either.
Everyone in our culture is addicted to something--eating welll, watching TV, buying CDs, listening to music, chatting on message boards, etc. So few people are truly not addicted to *anything* at all...
