Speaker attacked my MP, Kate Hoey. The fat fool. He should know she's a killer. I like her. This is not tribalism. I'm a Labour member, a shard away from voting Tory. Right of Labour (that is, in Labour), but you have to see these parties from inside to get really scared. The young Tories are not Cameroons, they're Thatcherites, but in an unhealthy sense: all the cranky-ness retained, the Hayek-liberalism removed or distorted.

Headline in the Mail (I think) today - well yesterday now - was along the lines of "Cameron gets tough on MPs' expenses claims", making him out to be this crusader of justice, personally clawing back unjustified expenses from Tory MPs...of course if Brown had done the same thing it'd be "Brown pathetically bows to public pressure at last and attempts futile clean-up of Labour sleaze".

OK, so 'UK tabloids in Conservative bias shocka!' isn't really news, but even so, it's more blatant on some occasions than others.

Cameron's in a very good position. Everyone knows he's about to be PM, so he can afford to ditch anyone, within reason (some of the Tory blogs who were very critical of minor MPs mounted a defence of Gove, who is close to the leadership, but he's been made to toe the line too).

Brown otoh, is fucked and has been sticking fingers in the Labour dyke :)eek:) for ages. Sacking Blears, say, could rebound quite badly fr him. Blairites love her.

Mark Oaten used to have the morally correct measure of D Davis and whichever bozo Labour had as then Home Secretary (Clarke, Blunkett, i forget) on the subject of asylum and immigration, and then got into that salacious tabloid business, and it's not been the same since.

Most conservative women are good looking, or at least make a huge display of trying to be with hair and make up and clothes... they won't let many women who aren't/don't into the good old boys club. That would be too threatening to their collective masculinity, if they couldn't at least objectify their female colleagues based on sex appeal and put them back in their proper feminine place that way.
