"R'n'B" recommendations PLEASE!?

I listened back to Amerie's "1 Thing" again last weekend and I'm sometimes convinced I will never hear another RnB song that'll be better. Oh, does anyone recall Ghosttown DJ's "My Boo"? That one is a contender.

Sounds great but it won't download -- any chance you can re-up it???

EDIT: Ignore me, got it off yr other blog!

Sorry dude! I missed your message before. I need to sort that out though, but yeah, it is still working on XXJFG. Hope you liked it.

My Boo!!!! God, I forgot about that one! Totally amazing track though. My friend who grew up in Florida, where it was a massive regional hit, said they played that song every half an hour at her school's prom which I thought was pretty amazing!

Similar thing (though not as good):

Everyone needs to check out the "wonky" RnB stuff that is beginning to get made by a few of those fucked up hip hop producers. Namely these two tunes by Hudson Mohawke "Oops (Oh my)" and "Still On It". I really hope this sort of thing catches on because the shit is like catnip for me.

Heard Rustie's remix of Brandy - what about us? fucked.

Oh and this thread couldn't be complete without <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
easily my favourite modern RnB tune, it couldn't be improved. is it a real 303? i don't think so.

Bring out the vacuum
I reckon those wonky remixes don't improve on the originals. At least, I don't like them as much. :)

I played an instrumental of 'what about us' on the radio the other day and had people thinking it is new "wonky" type stuff.

Weird.

I've always felt bad for Amerie. She's had really diverse songs touching nearly every 'field' of R&B, but she's never blown up quite like she did off "1 Thing".

"Why R U" is her best yet in my book, but this is an awkward follow-up. Not bad! But I don't see it doing as well.

I don't know if Ryan Leslie has been mentioned yet but he definitely should have been - his production is great, killer synths

also, I was bored, looking through my sister's CD collection and came across Omarion's "O" and I have to say it's got some of the best production I've heard on a mainstream R&B album that I have ever heard - highly recommended

and another thing - does anyone else reckon The-Dream as THE best thing in R&B at the moment? sick productions, song-writing and singer - he's one of the best all-rounders I've heard in a long while

Hell, even waste R&B people like Keri Hilson are better than Beyonce.

I agree with you on RLS; man is on creative fire. I had to take him off Twitter, because every other minute he was hustling people for his beats... Of course, I watched him say "@fabolous; I got THAT beat for you.", then 'lo and behold.

I can't ride with you on The Dream though. I'm sick to death of him, and his songs are all getting WAY too samey at this point.
