great tune. hopefully they select the right ppl to do remixes for this one. plastician and dvas beats were great, but none of the remixes, brackles, oneman, whoever, none of them came up with anything that really fit. i like what tempz is doing. not flooding us with material on a mix cd, just 'releasing' 1 amazing tune at a time. this is what grime should be like. id still rather pay £6 for one great song than the same for a mix cd.

After a few listens to BOTT my feeling so far is that it's not quite as good as Next Hype, but still excellent.

After a few hours I'd say the beat's better, but the bars aren't quite as big.
Either way it's a wicked track.
As an aside it'd be cool to hear some remixer's who are symnpathetic to a vocalist this time round - thought there were some gems amongst the next hype mixes but you could tell a few of 'em weren't used to accomodating vocals (the oneman blend of Next Hype with Anaconda is still my favourite - Stop What You're Doing this time around?)

yeah im sick of silencer beats too (though hearing a vocal over one makes me hear it a bit differently) - really overrated/oversaturated now. got his cd but didnt even bother playing it more than once as its been rinsed ridiculously. its almost like rinse had some sort of stipulation that it must be played once every hour. if grime was mainstream id be convinced that silencer paid for all the airtime. he must just be a really nice guy lol.

I think it's largely due to the fact that his beats are actually quite hard and grimy as well, though. Overexposed, perhaps, but that doesn't change the fact that he's actually quite good.

:) it is quite surprising how good a slot on rinse he got as well

Definitely - they sound unusually well mixed down too. For want of a less bait comparison it's like the difference between early 90's dre pop drums and premier/d&d snare crack

he reminds me of those old eastwood?/mr slash type beats where they just sound like a mess (not neces in a bad way lol), sort of like grimes version of old 'chuck it all in' hardcore rave type production.

Silencer gets overplayed for a reason, and it isn't because he's a nice guy. It is a shame though that his CD came out after half the tracks off it had already been played to death on any grime related radio show there is. Welcome to grime though.

Mr. Slash was (is?) a totally unimaginative producer. Decent, but unimaginative.

I should clarify: some might think Silencer is unimaginative because it is true that a lot of his shit sounds a bit the same (although there are far worse perpetrators out there). I'd set him aside from someone like Mr. Slash though because whereas Mr. Slash just sort of leaned heavy on that orchestral sounding thing that loads of people have done already, Silencer's beats don't sound like anybody else's in the game.

Agreed. No more 9 minute long serial videos featuring some stoned MC talking aimless shit. That isn't a clash. Oh, and while we're at it, no more anything from Lethal B ever again.

Silencers a sick producer and I hope he keeps making hype beats. WW4 has been rinsed as that has been floating since 2007 I dont really understand why people still drop it now.

I might add that he is the only producer really in the Grime scene actively DJing, putting out his own music, and getting big vocals to his tunes all on his ones. I respect him for that. Deserves everything he has achieved thus far really including the early slot on Rinse FM off the back of his energetic hosting + DJing Skills
