Superfoods

You hear a lot on about superfoods in the media. Has anybody here actually eaten them and felt better for it ? I tend to eat quite well anyway but dont like to pay silly money for some bizzare nut or berry from the other side world if I dont have to.

Ive got slightly raised BP and the doc suggested have a glass of beetroot juice which is ok. But what of other so called super foods. I guess all non processed foods are super in one way or another but what about things that are specifically labelled as a superfood, my guess its just a marketing ploy.

So what superfood have you eaten and it actually make any difference to your superness ?

i used Dr. Schultz's SuperFood herbal formula daily for about 1 year before and after the one master cleanse i did. i felt and looked great at the time, best i ever have. but it wasn't just any one thing, it was all the excercise and raw food and the herbal supplements together...

Blueberries are supposed to be a superfood no? They're quite nice. I don't even know any others to be honest.
No idea who that Dr Schultz guy is but he can fuck off. It's a slippery slope from herbal extracts to homeopathy and paying £80 for a shakra-aligning non-contact 'massage'.

Expensive foods that may be dense in 'micronutrients'
Sounds like a crap shampoo advert. "Quick, dazzle them with scientific sounding words!"

Is Omega 3 fish oil still supposed to make you a genius or did that turn out to be total bollocks as well?

the idea of a polarised superfoods vs not that superfoods set up sounds like utter marketing tosh to me...

surely just eat healthy, lots of fruit and veg etc and you will be fine?

i like a big glass of vegtable juice with ice and a dash of tabasco, it certainly feels healthy but not too expensive.

Great minds!

It's really nice, like a healthy bloody mary. I have done a massive juice in a food processor thing with celery, tomatoes etc and a tiny bit if raw garlic, it was pretty decent.

This Italian guy i used to live with would simmer onion, garlic, ginger, chilli, peppercorns, cloves, cardamom, any spices basically and herbs and make a proper witches brew thing that was actually really nice. It feels very healthy sipping that with a bit of honey stirred in.

I'd imagine something on a spinach / beetroot / turnip tip would taste amazingly earthy.

Do Supernoodles count?

At the moment I'm trying to gain muscle without putting on any fat, so basically that's loads of white meat, brown bread/pasta, fruit and veg. I also have a protein shake after I do weights, I thought they were bollocks, but I know a few gym-nut fellas who swear by them. All-Bran is good to fill you up in the morning, I've found.
