where does it say that it's a reference to grime? it simply says that there are djs in all scenes (and trust me, i wasn't even thinking about grime <i>at all</i> when i wrote it) who give off this impression that they put in work when they've played the same set for the last 2 years and havent looked for tunes from outside their immediate circle for just as long a time. nothong to do with grime. you're looking for something in it that isn't there.
and yes it could've mentioned score5, it could've mentioned a lot of people. but i don't think there's anyone right now quite doing it like spooky, and that's the point i wanted to make. and as Simon says, we've wanted to have spooky do a mix for ages so i dunno why you're bringing up the number of the mix. it's not like he's the first grime dj to do a fact mix - as i said before, magic was number 2 and we've also had alias, j sweet, terror, royal-t, elijah and skilliam and others in the past. bloom and hopefully darq e are coming up, and there's a lot of grime djs/producers we've asked in the past who never got back to us).
i can't because it's three websites ago and we lost all the content that wasn't in print (hence why your SLK search doesn't work), but i can guarantee you that slew dem and spooky were covered numerous times in that period, as was trim (i think he's been interviewed by fact twice, not 100%). there's big features with skepta, goodz, dexplicit, loads of people dating back to 2006/2007 when fact was print-only. a feature where woebot went to rinse fm and hung out with roll deep and ruff sqwad. simon from siverdollarcircle was working full time at fact before me and he wrote the best grime blog around; it's always been there.
i dunno what other music website had trends, bloom, cas, preditah, darq e, trim, riko etc in their best of 2012 list. who else had axiom (and, i think, soul food) in their best albums of 2007? you can't compare logan and tim&barry as they're far more niche - it's a totally different thing. i'm not saying fact is perfect and personally i'd love it to cover double the amount of grime it does, but there's only so many hours in the day and they can't all be used to cover one thing. of all the websites to target for not covering enough grime, you're really picking the wrong one.
