This is one of those things like Lewis Capaldi does where it's humorous and tongue in cheek visually but very very earnest musically.

This songs chorus I must admit gets me right in the feels. I'm ashamed of myself but he's used some secret melodic weapon against me.

The problem with these version is they're all two great songs. If someone liked shook ones over protect your neck or vice versa I wouldn't be appalled. I'd think it was a perfectly reasonable opinion. The divisive aspect isn't there.
