Playing up to his role as conspiracy goof. Don't think we really need a reminder that the Nazis were bad. But thanks anyway.

I’ve never seen anyone suggest that unlimited population growth is a good thing.

It depends who sets the limits. Generally when women have control over their bodies, this leads to a good outcome. Generally when limits are set by the state, or the patriarchy, it leads to a less good outcome.

There is a load of eco-fascist stuff around at the moment which is another one for the “are we frightened” thread.

Yeah get well Slackk... we'll probably be all asking you for tips soon enough.
According to the government guidelines here you are allowed to go out for food shopping and also for exercise. There is a bit of marsh where girlfriend likes to go for a run so I drove her there... but on arrival there were millions of cars in the carpark and it was busier than usual in the actual marsh, loads of people walking around. So we came back home. I guess people had the same idea as we did so I can't really blame them but I was a little surprised that when I left my flat I saw the cafe underneath was open and there were a load of people drinking outside and actually blocking the pavement so to "socially distance" myself I had to walk on the road. Driving to the marsh I saw another cafe open with a similar situation and loads of people walking in groups, no gloves or masks and so on. I get the feeling that people are not taking it very seriously out in the sticks here cos they think they're safe cos we're not in an urban concentration of people. Bit weird considering we're about 7km from Lisbon and the main airport of Portugal is nearer than that. There are not really any police around enforcing anything though as far as I can see.

oof take care slackk!

may i ask how your symptoms evolved?

Its hard to say because im not sure how conscious i was of the cough, but probably last saturday i realised I'd had it for at least 12 hours and started worrying. Flu type shit started kicking in late afternoon, body aches- but different to flu- and sinus-ish headaches. Body chills sunday, and decided to clean house thoroughly & isolate (though i hadn't been out since Friday night anyway bar a quick booze run). That absolutely fucked me and was first time i noticed the shortness of breath/lethargy. Lethargy never really went away after that.

Woke up in a coughing fit sunday night, had 2/3 days of really intense variations of the above, throat was destroyed, chest in bits (still is) and horrible headaches. Wednesday was a bit better, Thursday & Friday gradual improvements.

My Mrs is a few days behind but following a very similar pattern. I've spoken to a fair few people based in London who have had exactly the same shit- pretty sure now that i caught it commuting across to West because the drive is a twat from deep SE (never again). The chest is really stressing me out and i do wonder if there is another problem developing there but its been better at times today. Still knackered but not as bad. Worse if i lie down.

Its been really weird.

Fucks sake i deleted that by accident if anyone is a mod and retrieve. Basically- cough and then everything devolved from there. Biggest worry is my chest, which feels and felt awful, though gradually getting better. Any physical exertion wears you out.

I never had the fever, i assume that means you've got it really bad.

I was thinking of the Zika thread a few years back, in which I and a few others said that it would probably be a good thing if global population growth could be flattened off, given the effects this is having on us, on the climate and on ecosystems, and the responses from several others ticked all the boxes I mentioned - accusations of "fascism", of being in favour of eugenics and/or genocide, all that stuff.

So if someone thinks any kind of population control is as bad as that, then they're in favour of unlimited growth, aren't they? I mean those are the two exhaustive alternatives.

I actually made the point that the absolutely key thing to limiting fertility in countries with extremely high population growth is educating girls, and got a barely-veiled accusation of racism for my troubles.

It was all a bit odd.

Ha! I knew luka the archivist would be on that like a shot.

I may have exaggerated with the accusations of supporting genocide, as, such, but things did get fairly heated in that thread. I'm not going to read it all again now.

When I woke up this evening I asked Liza - what's the news? And she said "oh Coronavirus has been eradicated and life is going back to normal" - nice dream I guess. Does really seem like a different world... BC as you might call it.

Who's stockpiled drugs? A lot of my friends have stockpiled weed to the best of their financial ability but I don't even want booze in the house. Better to get used to going without I reckon. You don't want to be badly craving something you can't get hold of.
